The Tug Handling course envelops different elements, which all strive to enhance the level of professional education of the tug master and crew with regard to ship handling, safety and regulatory issues. This specific training course has been developed and delivered in order to increase competency and safety on board towing vessels.
This is a practical hands on course in which theoretical lectures about towing operations form the foundation. This is complemented by various recorded and filmed reports about accidents and their aftermath, together with group works, discussions and interaction among the participants. Several simulated situations are role played by the participants. Discussions and debriefs are essential parts of the course.
During the Tug Handling course you will work on your practical skills using the simulator and performing in role plays. It is our belief that further competence is required in order to meet industry standards. This specific training course has been developed and delivered in order to increase competency and safety on board towing vessels.
The course will be offered to active tug masters and officers and other personnel which can be involved in towing operations on board or ashore.
Upon successful completion of the course a certificate will be issued by MIWB.
The duration of the course is 5 days. The course takes place from Monday until Friday. The course starts on request.
